NJ Based Vidyo Demonstrates Importance of Immigrant Innovation

A recent article from Forbes centered around the rising importance that immigrants to the US are having through innovative companies. The article cited new research that was conducted by the National Foundation for American Policy that found that nearly half of America’s top 50 venture-funded companies were founded by immigrants.

An example referenced in the article is a company Hackensack, New Jersey where Israeli-born Ofer Shapiro has set up Vidyo. Shapiro was born in Nahalal, Israel and explained to Forbes that the place he was born has played a large part in the way he views obstacles. Shapiro decided that he wanted to take on the obstacle of delivering high quality video conferencing on the Internet, thought outside the box and was able to come up with a prototype that has changed the video conferencing market.

Shapiro says that Vidyo differs from Skype because of its quality of transmission to users and it gives service provides the option of full system control and security.
