Recently at the Young Jewish Professionals (YJP) New York Technology and Startup Summit, panelists gave their take on a number of issues that affect startups. Panelists included Ross Goldstein, co-founder of DJF Gotham Ventures, Avner Ronen, co-founder and CEO of Boxee, Fabrice Sergent, CEO of Cellfish Media LLC, and David Tisch, the managing director of TechStars NYC.
According to lawyer Pedram Tabibi, who wrote a post about the meeting on Libn.com, panelists frequently mentioned the importance of teamwork to startups and the need to set the right values for the company at inception. Startups were also told that it was important to identify mentors, make sure they connect personally with their mentor, and find someone they are inspired by.
Asked for predictions for 2012, a panel viewed mobile and the use of tech in cars as markets to address. Another said that e-commerce would be hot. The coming advances in connectivity software in televisions could also lead to a technology startup field in NC for 2012 and beyond, another panelist said.
