According to the NY Daily News, the Bloomberg Administration is working on a website that will track city snowplows in real time using GPS technology, modeled after a recent initiative launched in Chicago. The Mayor is hopeful that the website will make the snow-removal process more transparent, but is not suggesting that it will speed up the actual snow removal.
“I don’t know that it necessarily improves our ability to plow,” the mayor said. “We have the routes, and we are going to do it. But it does let you see where plows went and when they went there.”
At the moment, no timetable for the launch of the site has been given.
