NY-based Time Warner Cable (TWC) has released an iPhone app that lets subscribers watch live TV on their phones. The app, which can now be downloaded from the iTunes store, works with iPhones running iOS 4.3 or higher. Users need a broadband connection and TWC service.
The TWC app works within a user’s home and lets subscribers watch a channel on the iPhone while someone else is watching a different channel anywhere else in the house. The app also includes an interactive program guide, the ability to view DVR recordings and a way to schedule shows for recording.
TWC has had an iPad app since March, which at the time prompted a law suit from Viacom. That suit was settled in the summer.
