Last night Tumblr announced its sponsorship of the New York Tech Meetup alongside Google and Microsoft, according to Business Insider. The group, founded in 2004, has become a hub for many NY-based startups to get their starts.
“It’s a real validation of New York City’s growth as a startup mecca to have one of NY Tech Meetup’s own alumni join Microsoft and Google as sponsors,” Andrew Rasiej, Chairman of NY Tech Meetup, said in a press release. “Tumblr sponsoring the NY Tech Meetup not only validates a belief in our community’s future but will help solidify Tumblr’s growing stature as another major pillar of the open web,” he added.
