NY freelancers are using NY-based Fiverr to offer their services, $5 at a time, a New York Post article said. For example, Chris Ferretti does a great impression of Christopher Walken so he offered his voice on the micro-gig site. Soon he was making $800 to $900 a month recording 5-minute messages mimicking Walken. Other NYers are making money on the site as well. Howard Beach graphics designer Mary Ingrassia joined last year to offer quirky stunts like speed coloring a logo.
Micha Kaufman launched Fiverr.com in 2010 as a way for freelancers and micro entrepreneurs to offer small time services. No body gets rich on the site, but they do get to make significant part-time income. Last month the site debuted a tiered system with seller “levels” that lets trusted sellers charge more money for additional services.
