Fashion app maker Snapette and co-founder Sarah Paiji took a long and winding road through Boston and Silicon Valley before landing in NY, an Xconomy article points out. The app provides a stream of fashion product pictures taken at brick and mortar stores, uploaded by the user community, and gives people directions to the stores.
A Twitter interaction with Silicon Valley investor Dave McClure led Harvard-based Snapette, to move from Boston to Silicon Valley. McClure told followers to sign up for Snapette, but wasn’t willing to fund it without the OK of some people with fashion credentials. Christine Tsai and Jess Lee, founders of fashion tech startup Polyvore gave it the OK. Funded by 500 Startups, the company moved to McClure’s accelerator in Silicon Valley.
Later, the company moved to Dogpatch Labs in CA, but Paiji found she needed to be close to NY with its high shopping density of boutiques and users. The company is now operating out of Dogpatch Labs in Union Square.
