Tech Community Flocking to The Yard in Williamsburg

The Yard, a 14,000 foot co-working space that opened in November in Williamsburg, is already 65% full, and some are touting it as an alternative to General Assembly. A number of tech companies are working out of the space including Hype Machine, Wanderfly, Mobile Roadie and Uber and now The Yard is planning strategic alliances with angel investors whose portfolio companies might want to work there.

A plus for tech companies: the Yard has a 100 megabit/second Internet connection. The founders said to BetaBeat that other people were having problems with the Internet, but they knew they would need no outages if they were to attract Internet companies. While the co-working space is selective in terms of the kinds of companies they take, anyone who is creative can apply.
