Microsoft and Nokia, at a Mobile Monday New York event this week, pitched developers in an attempt to disrupt the iOS/Android market duopoly.  Speaking to xconomy.com, Danilo Diaz, Microsoft’s northeast developer evangelist, says, “this is the time for developers to get in early on the game.”  At the moment there are 60,000 apps available for the Windows 7 platform, compared to the 500,000 iPhone apps.

Nokia’s Lumia 900, powered by Windows 7, was named the best smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
