Nick Denton isn’t a big fan of blog comments, so he’s decided to reinvent how they’re used on Gawker. Without revealing the details of his new commenting system, he told GigaOm that everyone would have their own commentary and discussion platform—including the sources involved in the stories.

Denton said he isn’t satisfied with just reinventing comments—he wants to transform all of online journalism. Now comments are tacked on at the end of the story as an afterthought. Instead, he wants to take discussions about the story—including the editors’ private IMs and chats about the piece—and turn it into a new form of media.

Several GigaOm commenters noted that everything Denton discussed is already in place at Reddit.
