Upon moving to NY after successfully starting two venture-backed tech companies in Silicon Valley, Margaret Wallace, founder of Playmatics, was surprised at how difficult it was to connect with investors when she tried to start a third called Rebel Monkey. This sentiment is shared among many entrepreneurs in the city; and so, Shaherose Charania, another innovator similar to Wallace, brought Women 2.0 to NY with the help of Fred Wilson from Union Square Ventures, his wife Joanne Wilson, and several big sponsors such as AT&T Interactive and the Kauffman Foundation.
According to Crain’s New York Business, Women 2.0 holds Founder Fridays in the city, where startup founders can network with each other to exchange ideas, as well as reach out to potential investors. The next New York Founder Friday is scheduled for May 4.
