While the Yankees will be playing their first game of the season against Tampa Bay tomorrow, it seems that they already have a head start on the social media front. The Yankees’ Facebook page heads the list of 30 Major League Baseball teams with the most likes at 5.3 million, according to a Wall Street Journal blog. The Red Sox are in second place with 3.5 million, said social media agency Banyan Branch, which provided an infographic showing Nick Swisher to be the “Most Valuable Tweeter” with 1,172 tweets and 1.4 million followers.

On Twitter, the Yankees place second with 550,000 followers. Who is first? Those Philadelphia Phillies top Twitter with 680,000 followers. The San Francisco Giants team is the most active, having sent out more than 18,000 tweets.
