AT&T has announced that it is working to improve cell/data service in NY. According to All Things D, the company will be calling customers on its 2G network to try to offer incentives to get them to move to its 3G and 4G networks.

Tim Devito, AT&T regional general manager told All Things D that, “By re-allocating network resources from our 2G network to support our newer, advanced networks, we’re moving capacity to support the voice and mobile internet services our customers want.”

The site also reported that there has been a long history of network issues for AT&T in the NY area, as this network shifting initiative is just one way in which AT&T is addressing the poor cell service in this region, such as building up Wi-Fi hot zones and adding cell towers.
