Google Gives CornellNYC Tech 22,000 Square Feet of Free Space

On July 1, 2012, Google will grant CornellNYC Tech a free lease of 22,ooo square feet at its NY headquarters while Cornell builds its Roosevelt Island applied science campus.

By leasing this space, Cornell hopes to further its involvement with the growing tech center of the city. According to The Next Web, the office space will belong to Cornell for five years and six months, or until the Roosevelt Island campus is built. Cornell also has the option to expand the space up to 58,000 square feet during its time at the headquarters.

Mayor Bloomberg hopes this integration of Cornell and the tech sector will boost NYC further into the tech spotlight. According to TNW, Bloomberg said, “Just a few years ago our tech sector was barely on anyone’s radar screen – now, it’s creating jobs and becoming a major player in our diversified economy.”
