Though it is a ubiquitous societal benefit, the growth of the Internet has also spawned many legal issues i.e. online vs. offline privacy, intellectual property rights, and media piracy to name a few. As the NY startup scene is beginning to take a larger role in addressing these concerns as they present themselves (i.e the recent SOPA/PIPA debate), Brad Burnham, a partner at VC firm Union Square Ventures, has recruited Nick Grossman as an “advocate” for the tech industry.
According to The New York Times, he will be based at Union Square Ventures and partiatially financed by them, as his responsibility will be “to alert people to issues and organize opposition to ones detrimental to the tech sector.”
