The Brooklyn Health Information Exchange (BHIX) has become the first Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) to sign on to the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC). NYeC plans to create a unified network of healthcare records for all of NY state. BHIX and other RHIOs will benefit from NYeC’s linking of multiple providers and payers throughout the state by reducing infrastructure costs while expanding access to the health data.
BHIX Board Chair Pamela Brier told Technology Digital “We see this as the imperative next step in the evolution of health information exchange and its ability to support comprehensive care coordination for patients statewide.” BHIX will continue to develop special projects in support of its participating organizations while assisting NYeC .
