Foursquare Sets A Date for All New App

As NY startup Foursquare has been leaking photos via Twitter the past week of its new app, it seems that many have been wondering when the app will be launching. According to WebProNews,  Foursquare has now made clear that it will be launching its new app this Thursday, June 7.

The new app will more concisely tell users when their friends are nearby – a feature already present in its current app – but with a different interface. Also, one of its recent teasers showed that Foursquare is adding to their map feature on the mobile app only. Finally, screenshots hint at a possible new recommendation service that utilizes both location and friend check-ins.

According to WebProNews, this suggests that Foursquare is moving towards Dennis Crowley’s previously hinted at “predictive check-ins.” Given the amount of data the company has at their disposal, becoming a real recommendation service would be a logical next step.
