This year’s seventh Made in NY Awards, which took place at Gracie Mansion earlier this week, honored both @radical.media, a media production company, and Kickstarter, the crowdsourced funding website, as they were awarded for “making it” in NY. According to MediaDecoder, the award ceremony was created by Mayor Bloomberg to recognize positive developments in the city’s entertainment and digital media industries.
@radical.media works closely with the media and entertainment office of the mayor and created the “Made in NY” logo. Jon Kamen, chief executive at @radical.media, cited his educational background at PS 131 in Queens when he accepted the award. Charles Adler, Perry Chen, and Yancey Strickler, the founders of Kickstarter, accepted their award at the event. Mr. Chen, as reported by the NYTimes, said that Kickstarter “would always be based in NY.”
