Top-selling author Seth Godin (Linchpin, Tribes) raised enough money recently to fund his next book within three hours of launching his campaign on NY-based crowdfunding site Kickstarter campaign for it. At 5:05am the campaign for his new book The Icarus Deception began and by 11am he announced the funding had passed the $90,000 mark.

According to Mashable, Godin is an outspoken critic of traditional book publishing models. On his Kickstarter page, he describes Icarus as a book about “the mythology of success (and failure) and how our economy rewards people who are willing to stand up and stand out.”

Kickstarter pledges for Godin’s book begin at $4 with 4-day online access to the book ahead of release. $22 gets a hardcover copy, and five people have already pledged over $1000 to be interviewed and mentioned in the book.
