New Yorker‘s digital editor Nicholas Thompson is very optimistic about the future of his magazine’s website newyorker.com. With the introduction of a new books blog (Page-Turner), a health-care hub for medical coverage, the new election vertical (Political Scene) and a reorganized navigation bar, the site averaged a little under 2 million monthly visitors earlier this year, according to comScore.
The latest sign of the expansion was Thompson, who formerly worked for Wired and then as a features editor for the New Yorker, hiring this week Jonah Lehrer of Wired to write a science blog titled Frontal Cortex for the site Though he would not give specifics, Thompson told Capital New York, “There’s more stuff planned.”
