Cloud computing CRM company Salesforce.com, which was recently in the news for its acquisition of NY-based Buddy Media, is currently negotiating to lease the former Pfizer Inc. building at 685 Third Ave. The building is presently owned by institutional fund manager TIAA-CREF, whom Salesforce already has close ties to, as its leases a 400,000 square feet building from them in San Francisco.
This transaction would more than sextuple the San Francisco-based tech company’s presence in NY, which already has a 15,000 square foot office at 2 Grand Central Tower. According to Crain’s New York Business, Salesforce.com was drawn to this location because it allows the firm to expand over time, which is not an option in the Midtown south area buildings usually favored by tech firms.
