Last night, Samsung hosted an event at Skylight Studios in downtown Manhattan featuring its new flagship Android phone Galaxy S III, which the company hopes to be in stores for purchase by next week.  According to The Wall Street Journal, featured a “Tunnel of Sharing Purgatory,” that event goers had to walk through to get into the event in order to demonstrate the ease of sharing photos and files on the phone. Additionally, NBA greats Walt Frazier and Steve Nash were there to chat and shoot hoops with attendees.

To further push the Galaxy name, Samsung is also opening branded kiosks in public spaces which allow the phone owner to download free content simply by touching the phone to the stand. The company is also marketing the phone in movie theaters. According to the Journal, this device is the first from Samsung that has been released identically across all four carriers.
