The New York Times Company recently elected Joichi Ito and Brian McAndrews to their Board of Directors. Both Ito and McAndrews have extensive backgrounds in the technology and multimedia fields.
According to a company press release, Ito is the director of the Media Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and former CEO of Creative Commons, a nonprofit dedicated to helping copyright owners freely share their work. Along with these positions, he is CEO of Neoteny venture capital firm and an early investor in numerous tech companies.
McAndrews is a venture partner with Madrona Venture Group and previously worked as senior VP of advertising and publishing solutions at Microsoft Corporation. He also worked as VP and general manager for ABC Sports and serves on numerous tech based company boards.
