Yammer, a San Francisco-based developer of social networking sites, announced that it will be opening an office in NY. The company signed a five-year lease for 13,500 sq feet according to Crain’s New York Business, though the company took nearly eight months to decide on a location. The new office will be located at 218 W 18th street, right next to Red Bull’s 42,000 square foot headquarters, and is just around the corner from Google’s office.
Freddie Fackelmayer, Yammer representative, told Crain’s that, “Over the course of their search, their space requirements became a little bit more ambitious, and it ended up doubling. This is a very important deal for New York; with it comes an influx of new jobs,” as the company expects to hire 100 employees for its NY office. They will occupy the entire third floor of the building, which will be built out just for the firm.
