Four years ago there was only one NY startup with a valuation about $500 million – Kayak. Today at least 10 others are currently worth more than $500 million and a few have even topped the $1 billion valuation. According to Business Insider, three startups had $100 million+ exits this year, including Buddy Media which was acquired by Salesforce.com for $800 million.
