GoCharge, Midtown based company, rolled out 55 of its charging kiosks in bars throughout Manhattan, with plans for another 50 by Labor Day. According to Crain’s NY Business, most of the charging stations will be in Manhttan, but there will be a few in Brooklyn and Hoboken, NJ. David Walke, CEO of goCharge calls the kiosks, “ATMs that dispense power,” with each charge costing about $3 to $5, though some sponsored kiosks will offer a free charge.
The bars range anywhere from American Trash on the Upper East Side to Billy Hurricane’s on the Lower East Side. However, people low on power can locate all the kiosks with the goCharge iPhone app. Mr. Walke also plans to have kiosks in 150 bars in Boston and Miami by Labor Day, bringing the kiosk total to about 255-bars, which he will then pitch to advertisers.
