Google’s building at 111 Eighth Ave. not only houses the largest amount of Internet data flow in NY, but also such up and coming companies as Livestream and Spotify. Though the smaller companies do not get the lush perks available to Google, they do have access to some of the fastest Internet connections, biggest data centers and best backup power in the city. They also have data centers in the building – as opposed to outsourcing their data storage to server farms in New Jersey. Currently Livestream takes up 4,000 square feet on the 15th floor for its 60 employees, Spotify has 14,000 square feet for its 114 employees, and Google, which can take as much space as it wants, uses 500,000 square feet.
