Unpakt aims to expand into 18 to 20 cities in the U.S. and Europe over the next three months. Additionally, the service hopes to enlist 5,000 movers, 3,000 of which will be in the Us, over the next 15 months. Ben-Haroush told Crain’s NY that, “We are solving major problems for the client, and major problems for the mover. We are making [the business] more methodical.” There are currently two other companies trying to eke their way into the same field. One, Moveline, which provides quotes from movers and customers reviews, and the other, MOVE Guides, is based in London and is focused on international moves.
Ben-Haroush says he has put towards $3 million over the last year for developing the site. Users work their way through a survey and answer questions about home size, the amount of materials that need to be moved out, and what type of an entrance the home has. The algorithm for the site then determines the price estimates for each moving company based on the survey and other specifics like date and location.
