NY-based game app developer PrePlay landed a $3.1 million Series A funding round, led by Gary Vaynerchuk, social media entrepreneur, and Matt Higgins, CEO RSE Ventures, among other angel investors. The company creates predictive gaming apps that allow users to predict the next play in sports games, just before they happen, and can compete with friends or other users. According to Mobile Sports Report, PrePlay plans to use this additional funding to hire more employees and develop additional content for it’s games, while also looking at additional opportunities in the entertainment sector.
Before this funding round, PrePlay launched an official app with with the NHL, and also had a big Super Bowl success in a partnership with Subway for its football app. Players can gain points and bragging rights for each correct prediction that they make. PrePlay currently has two apps available for free on the Apple app store..
