In January it was reported that Ira Rubin had pleaded guilty to helping online poker companies transfer billions of dollars in illegal gambling proceeds overseas from US customers. According to the AP, today Rubin has been sentenced in NY to three years in prison.
Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered the sentence after prosecutors said Rubin made it look like the money processed by poker companies via US banks was a result of transactions on websites for golf stores and other businesses.
Rubin had been held without bail after he was arrested in Guatemala last April.
