The MTA’s Long Island Rail Road is launching a new ticketing app just in time for the Barclays PGA Tournament. The event is expected to add about 35,000 more passengers over the four-day tournament.  The app, developed by LI tech firm CooCoo,  allows LIRR customers to buy tickets and receive bar-coded tickets via email to print out at home or they can store the images on their smart phone. Tickets will be scanned on trains with a bar-code reader. Ryan Thompson, CooCoo co-founder, said this is the first live mobile ticketing solution offered by a major U.S. transit agency.
