NYer Creates Tip Jar for Credit Cards

NY’s Ryder Kessler has developed DipJar, a tip jar for the credit card generation. The DipJar sits on the countertop and customers simply swipe their card.  The machine takes a predetermined amount for a tip and DipJar takes a service fee (of up to 20%). The balance is disbursed on a regular schedule to employees.

So far the company has contracted DipJars at two Oren’s Daily Roast locations in Manhattan. The machines are free to the retailers, since the company makes its money off the transaction fees. DipJar hopes to continue developing the jars to someday accept other forms of payment, such as barcodes from mobile phones.
