Huge Labs, the six-month-old incubator of Brooklyn-based digital agency Huge is rolling out its first product: Togather, which connects authors and their fan bases through in-person events. The company currently employs 7 staffers and has office space in the same building as parent agency Huge. Unlike many companies, Huge’s goal was not to keep Togather in-house, but to take ideas from the staff and create a separate entity, with Huge still owning a majority stake.

Togather.com is still in private beta, but is bringing in authors through what they call “fansourcing.” Authors can use the site to let fans know when they’re available to speak, or fans can suggest dates and venues themselves. Events are only finalized when a specified number of tickets are sold. The company than plans to monetize by collecting a commission on ticket sales and the books it sells on behalf of its author members.
