NY based startup Lua Technologies announced a $2.5M seed round led by Roger Ehrenberg’s IA Ventures. Angels Aaron Stone of Apollo Global Management, Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two Interactive Software, John Maloney (former Tumblr president) and The Dark Knight Rises producer Charles Roven also participated. Lua, which deputed at TechStars NYC Demo day a few months back, is a platform that helps facilitate communication within a large mobile work force – such as a movie set or retail store. Through email, SMS, or the Android/iOS apps, Lua allows the admin to separate individuals into certain groups and then send mass messages to one or multiple designated sets. For example, a director can have hair/makeup, set design, camera crew, and talent and then page one group or all of them if a message needs transmitting.
