Manhattan-based Neverware, a six-person startup, has created a server that can link schools’ computers in the cloud to state-of-the-art software, ranging from basic word-processing and spreadsheet programs to educational diagnostic-testing programs. Founder Jonathan Hefter and his staff have already installed the server, dubbed Juicebox, in one school in the Bronx and two in New Jersey, and it has contracts for two more schools in Brooklyn. Current investors include Josh Kushner and Mark Suster, as well as venture capital firms Khosla Ventures, Raptor Ventures and General Catalyst.
