It has been a year since WABC/Channel 7 moved to their new studios at the other side of its Upper West Side building. The studio is fan-friendly – located at street level with a window that gives passersby a look of the studio, even when live on-air. The talent can also see foot and vehicular traffic. What TV viewers cannot see is how expansive the location is. It was not only constructed in HD quality, but the lighting was upgraded with energy efficient LED or fluorescent bulbs.
The set also includes robotic cameras as well as a “flash camera” used from the newsroom and weather office. WABCÂ is not the only station to create a new studio. A month after Channel 7 showed off its new location, WCBS/Channel 2 had its own revamped studio and WNBC and WPIX joined the trend this year.
