The Wall Street Journal has launched its video news gathering platform, WorldStream. The site will now publish short form videos created by the paper’s staffers. The videos will be made via smartphones by the journalists from across the global WSJ and Dow Jones news organization. According to the WSJ press release, Worldstream is video for the social media and mobile age, where each video will be under one minute. All content will be overseen by the WSJ editorial video director Shawn Bender and real-time video deputy Mark Scheffler.
The videos can be found embedded in stories on WSJ.com, incorporated into the Journal’s daily live video programming and used in produced video packages. The stories are also easily discoverable on Twitter under the hashtag worldstream.
