As part of their initiative to bring readers to their website, The Wall Street Journal will be offering free Wi-Fi in more than 1300 NY hotspots. Throughout September, anyone can use one of the many spots blanketing large parts of Manhattan, including high traffic neighborhoods such as Times Square and the West Village. The service is also available in parts of three other boroughs.

According to paidContent, users will be brought to the paper’s homepage, and it is their hope this will encourage new subscribers. The paper will also garner valuable customer data since non-subscribers must register to access the Wi-Fi. Existing subscribers can simply log-in using their accounts.
