Brian Bedol is betting that his startup, NY based Bedrocket Media, will disrupt traditional TV. Bedol, who founded Bedrocket with Huffington Post co-founder Ken Lerer, recently raised $15 million from NEA. He says 24-hour networks and cable companies waste both money and content because viewers only watch a few hours of TV a week.

Traditional TV providers create content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether viewers watch or not. Bedol says providing four hours of fresh content each week is effectively the same level of service as a network because viewers are able to stream video on demand.

While TV networks use Nielsen ratings, Bedrocket can accurately capture user experience. He can find out how shows are discovered, watched and shared. He can also easily push content to Facebook, Hulu and iPads.
