When Alan Blaustein was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, he found confusing and contradictory sources of information from his doctors, insurance companies and the Internet.
In response, Blaustein, a founder and head of media companies such as About.com and OpenSky, decided to create CarePlanners. The NY startup provides personalized expert guidance and care coordination for patients who find themselves in new health situations. It pairs patients with actual people who guide them through the complexities of situations and aims to be the AAA of health care. Blaustein said there’s no “algorithm for the health care system.”
