Reshma Saujani was inspired by stories of women who broke through the glass ceiling in male dominated fields like engineering. She recently founded Girls Who Code, a NY-based organization that teaches high school girls the basics of code, computer science, robotics, web design and app development.

Twitter is one of the program’s biggest sponsors. Adam Messinger, vice-president of engineering, is on GWC’s board. Software engineer Sara Haider showed the young women how to develop Android apps. Recently, Twitter held its first formal fundraiser at its offices for GWC. Executives Ev Williams, Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey were among the donors.
