The newly completed $12 million redevelopment of WNYC Transmitter Park in Brooklyn, features 1.6 acres of open space with more access to the waterfront. The site is located on the former grounds of the WNYC transmission towers and has new seating and a visitor-accessible wetland area. According to the NY Economic Development Corporation, Mayor Bloomberg is set to cut the ribbon when the park opens. Mayor Bloomberg said, “The site has been transformed from a former ferry terminal and home of the old WNYC radio towers, into a destination for families to play, picnic, and enjoy beautiful views.” The park improvements will add to the 2005 re-zoning of Greenpoint-Williamsburg.
