BronxNet announced recently that it will be building a TV Studio at Mercy College in the East Bronx. The studio will give tech access and media production training at Hutch Metro Center, and will be called BronxNet at Mercy College. It is expected to open in early 2013 and attract jobs and industry to the area. Included in the new space will be an express TV studio, access to cameras and equipment for editing and finishing programs. Production classes will be offered for Bronx residents in addition to the opportunity to create programs for BronxNet channels.

The new center was chosen for this region of the Bronx based on a needs assessment survey, and will be digitally interconnected to BronxNet’s facility at Lehman College in the West Bronx. BronxNet Chairman Paul T. Gentile said, “Our East Bronx facility is very necessary and timely as we celebrate 20 years of providing services and Broadcasting in the Bronx in 2013. This partnership between Mercy College and BronxNet will benefit the community, and we welcome the participation of Bronx residents, community leaders, organizations and students.”
