Cornell NYC Tech wants to streamline the patent process so students and researchers can quickly develop products. Today, they announced a partnership with the U.S. Commerce Dept. and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, according to Venture Beat. This is the first time a U.S. government office has worked directly with a research institution. The U.S. Patent and Trademark office even plans to have an employee on campus.
