David Blaine will be demonstrating the principles of electromagnetism on the West Side. Standing atop a 20 foot-high pillar surrounded by seven giant Tesla coils at Hudson River Park’s Pier 54, the magician will perform yet another public test of endurance as onlookers send him volts of electricity for 72 hours. It’s part of an educational event held by the Liberty Science Center. Blaine says his stunt also pays tribute to the legendary Nicola Tesla, the Serbian-American scientist who invented the coil.
The free performance begins Friday evening and can also be watched on http://www.youtube.com/electrified.
