Taxation is an area lagging in tech innovation. But Anupam Singhal and Nishant Mittal are changing that. They created the NY based startup Monaeo, an app that helps users track where they’ve been and how many more days they can stay before a tax liability kicks in. Spending more than 183 days in NY incurs substantial taxes to an out-of-stater’s income. Capital gains also suffer—both states can claim taxes.
Monaeo, a derivative of the Latin word moneo, to warn, is still in beta testing. The service costs $79 a month, but founders say it could save users far more on their tax returns.
