ZocDoc, a NY-based startup, began in 2007 as a site to help connect patients to doctors. The site recently launched its first new feature since launching, called ZocDoc check in which allows patients to check-in before their appointments online and save their information for future check-ins. According to GigaOm, this new feature is free for patients and comes as no extra charge for doctors already paying to be listed on the site.

ZocDoc Check-in will allow patients to save time, especially for short-notice appointments. Information is securely saved on the site and pre-fills future forms needed for check-ins. At the beginning, the feature will only be available to 10% of patients, but will grow over time. In the past, patients have been hesitant to share personal medical information online, the response to the new feature seems positive. Dr. Oliver Kharraz, ZocDoc co-founder and COO, said that, “For us to be a trusted partner in maintaining this information is very important to us. This has been a tremendous success with the patients we’ve offered this to because of the experience they have with us and the general orientation of the company in putting consumers first.”
