The New York Times recently launched an HTML5 app for the iPad. The Times is calling this part of their “NYT Everywhere” strategy. But according to The Next Web, it could also be a way for the paper to leave Apple’s Newsstand. The Financial Times recently left the Newsstand because Apple charges a 30 percent subscription fee while providing little user activity data. The NYT said it has no plans to remove its native iOS app, but just wants to expand its reach.
