The New York City Housing Authority is under fire for hiring a social media consultant to give the cash-strapped city agency a makeover. NYCHA Chairman John Rhea defended the payment of $200,000 in taxpayer funds to a brand management specialist by saying that it helps public housing residents stay current on changes to laws and regulations. He added that none of his staff have the expertise to perform the task. But Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal (D-Manhattan) says the troubled agency is using the Search Impact Consulting Group to whitewash their problems rather than fix them.
