Crain’s New York Business reports that NYSE CEO Duncan Niederauer wants a meeting with Shashank Tripathi. Using his @ComfortablySmug handle, Tripathi falsely tweeted that the NYSE was under three feet of water during Hurricane Sandy. That was announced on air by CNN and The Weather Channel. The NYSE subsequently released photos of their dry stock exchange floors to expose the misinformation. Tripathi, a hedge fund analyst, later tweeted an apology.
Niederauer said at the Future of New York Conference, “We look forward to hearing why he thought what he said was so funny.” Tripathi hasn’t tweeted as @ComfortablySmug since. It is not known when the meeting will take place.
